19 Month Letter

Chickadee,
Yes, Chickadee. Its your new favorite Nickname for both you and me. You come out with “Hi Chickadee” “Love you Chickadee” and “No Chickadee” on a regular basis. Very cute if I do say so myself.
You’ve developed quite the jealous streak and a temper this month, Terrible Two’s much?
You’ve never been so naughty but you’ve also never been so sweet. The hitting obviously doesn’t fall into the latter.
You started counting to 10 at the beginning of the month. You don’t like the number 3, your favorite number is 6 and you speed up once you get to 4. You’re starting to learn your ABC’s and colors. I’m always amazed at how clever you are. I love when you say “pink” as “pinkles” there’s still a little bit of my baby in there somewhere.
A favorite activity of ours these days is baking cakes. Every time we go into the kitchen and you see any of the supplies you get excited and ask if we can make one and repeat “choccy cake” over and over. You love to sneak little bits of the batter and get very upset when its time for the mixture to go in the oven. Bubbles and Stickers are also a new hit, I can get you to do almost anything with either as a reward.
On May 18th, a Muslim Temple called the Mecca Masjid was blown up. It was a little bit scary, but we were all ok on this side of town. We spent the weekend indoors and ate home made Burgers and Caramel with Ice Cream for dessert, I don’t think I’ve seen you chow down so much in a very long time.
You’re really into books again. You bring over all your favorites on a regular basis and we sit and flick through the pages together. The books on the top of your list are Baby Einstein Babies, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Hide & Seek Farm, I Love You Every Little Bit and Its My Turn. Your vocabulary has exploded to over 250 words and you’re speaking in understandable sentences for the most part. You confuse the B’s and D’s in Teddy Bear and it comes out as “Tebba Der” which never fails to make me chuckle just a little.
You are a real girly girl these days. You love to have your nails painted, moisturize your body and put on lip balm. One stick of lip balm will amuse you for as long as you’re allowed to hold onto it. The nice thing is you don’t try to eat it, you just smear it on and smack your lips over and over. Everything is “pretty” or “wow, Nice”
You really are a little girl now, and once we crack down on potty training and taking the dummy away, there will be no more Baby Ria. It breaks my heart a little but with each passing day there are more mummy & daughter things we can do together.
I love you big girl, and all your silly little ways.
Love Mummy.
