Dear Miss Ria,
As you know, we moved into our new place last month which means mummy has had her hands so very full. I am really, truly sorry that it has taken me so long to get to your 16 & 17 month letters, I feel awful but I hope I can catch you up on everything here.
We moved into our apartment on the 14th of February, which is also Mummy and Daddy’s 3rd wedding anniversary so the day was extra special. You zoomed around the new space through the day and had a little bit of a rough time getting used to your new room but it all went well. You now have your very own play room which you spend a lot of time in and your favorite new item is a princess ball castle.
You finally have all your front teeth and you’re only missing one set of molars, what a chomp you have now. Your hair is so full and bouncy and you’ve stacked on another half kilo since we left Australia which puts you up to 10kgs but still in the smaller percentile. I need to have your height checked; I think you’re rather tall for your age. The main thing is you’re healthy.
Speaking of health, we got a rather big fright last week. You woke up one morning unable to walk on one leg! Daddy freaked out while mummy tried to remain calm and took you to the hospital. Nothing wrong could be found so we were sent home with some anti-inflammatories and a few hours later you were toddling around again. Maybe you slept on it funny or pulled a muscle, we’ll never know but we’re so glad you’re okay.
For some really exciting news, on March 5th we got you a little puppy of your very own. He is a pug, now 8 weeks old and his name is Mr. Beaumont, although we call him Beau and you like to call him Beauman. He is such a great little buddy for you and in the mornings he is one of the first things on your agenda. He is a great new addition to our family and we really hope you two can learn a lot from each other.
You’re speaking a lot of 3 word sentences now and you know so much English its scary. We need to work on your Hindi and Gujarati, though I’m really awful in that department. You understand both really well but you don’t speak it very often. You’re starting to have little conversations with us and it melts our hearts. Here is one from today…
You: Mummy
Me: Yes?
You: Song
Me: Sure (turns up the CD player)
You: Thanks
I’ll have to get a short video of you talking, you seemed to have inherited mummy’s high toned voice she had as a baby too.
2 favorite songs of yours are “open shut them” and “Galoomp went the little green frog”. You’re still totally into “Old MacDonald” but I’m trying to teach you some new ones.
You now also seem to have your own PA. Her name is Geeta and she stays with us over the weekend and a couple of days a week as your baby sitter. You think she is great, we think she is great and its all going really well. I’m so happy we don’t have to lug you around for hours on end through the traffic and chaos that is India every time we go out now and you really love Geeta’s company.
Today (technically yesterday) was your friend Ruby’s 2nd birthday. Happy Birthday Ruby! You, Ruby and Lola had a great time with all the new presents, food and cake. Tomorrow is the big party so I’ll be sure to snap lots of pictures to show you someday.
I love you baby girl, I hope you don’t think that these letters aren’t important to me. Every time I go to sit and write them out something seems to happen. I hope soon I’ll be able to get these written on time so I’m not forever apologizing for how late they are.
Love always,
Mummy
