13 Month Letter

Dear Ria,

I have been a slack mama, so I have decided I would write your letters whenever I get the chance to sit down while you have a nap. You have been doing a lot lately, including walking more. We are very impressed with you and everyone gets excited when they see you do your crazy pirate walk across the room. You’re still not too interested in toddling around which is fine, the more stationary you are the better in my opinion!

You are no longer our baby, you have blossomed into a little girl and have all these grown up ways about you. It seems like you grew up overnight. You’re sleeping great at night now and I often find myself sneaking in, picking you up and holding you close while we sit in the moonlight. I never thought I could miss you so much while you were sleeping. You have been waking up a little earlier lately and coming to doze in our bed for a while. Daddy and I love the snuggle time.

While we’re on the cuddling note, you have become very affectionate and giving with your hugs. Whenever we tell you to give something a cuddle you’re more than happy to oblige. Neo is starting to tollerate you more and even let you hold him in your lap on the weekend. You were a very smitten little Ria though I can’t say Neo felt the same. With time, I think you two will be best of friends.

On Thursday mornings we head off to play group and you know where we’re off to now. You have such a great time mingling with the other babies and playing with all the new toys. Daddy joined us last week and you had a great time showing off and playing in the sunshine.

On November 1st we spent our first vacation away from you. It was hard and whenever we heard a baby cry we almost got up to go and get you. We really wished we had taken you, but sometimes mums and dads need a break from the world which I’m sure you will understand someday. You had a wonderful time getting away with all the naughty things we don’t let you do and when we came home you nearly cried from excitement, as did we.

Next month we’re heading off to Australia to spend Christmas and I’m a bunch of nerves just thinking about how you’ll do on the plane. You don’t like sitting still but I hope we can keep you entertained and you have a good time. Everyone is so excited to see you and we can’t wait to show you all the different sights and new foods. Daddy is especially excited about the food part since he is the one who loves to sneak you all the things you aren’t meant to have, but thats what Daddies are for, right?

You say so much lately and pick up so quick. I taught you how to say “cow” yesterday and we’re working on what a cow says. Your favorite word is “ball” and it is of course your favorite toy aside from your ride on scooter. You’ve been making this funny little buzzing noise in the last week and wherever we go, people think its hilarious.

You’re such a darling little girl Ria. You make each and every day so magical.
Lots of love,
Mama.
